Asé Bahia 2025: A Retreat of Community, Movement & Renewal

Join us for Asé Bahia 2025, a transformative retreat where movement, music, and community come together as acts of joy, resistance, and renewal.

From July 9-13, 2025, we gather at Sítio Sabiá in Arembepe, Bahia, immersing ourselves in the rhythms of capoeira, dance, and music—deeply rooted traditions that connect us to the land and each other. Our days unfold with hands-on workshops, live music, and movement practices passed down through generations, guided by master artisans, capoeira mestres, pandeiro makers, and percussionists.

This is more than a retreat—it’s a homecoming.

Let’s build, move, and dream in service of something greater—together.

The Power of Making It Happen

Asé is the energy that transforms dreams into reality. For over a decade, we’ve imagined a space where music, art, culture, inclusivity and sustainability come together. Sítio Sabiá is that vision, brought to life.

In 2025, we invite you to the second edition of Asé Bahia—a celebration of creativity, tradition, and community. This is more than a gathering; it’s a journey of connection and empowerment. Let’s honor our Asé and build something extraordinary—together.

We understand life complexities and travel needs. If you need to arrive late or leave early, we can accommodate you—but your presence will be dearly missed for any part you may miss!

When will we know the full event schedule?

We begin Wednesday, July 9, 2025, with an opening reception, grounding, and communal dinner. From July 10-12, dive into full days of cultural programming, hands-on workshops, and time on the farm. We close on July 13 with music and a joyful celebration.

In 2023, we offered 18 classes and shared 10 communal meals, strengthening our bonds through movement, learning, and food. Check out the 2023 schedule to see how we think about shaping our time together.

This year will be just as rich—organic, farm-to-table meals in our community kitchen, moments to witness sunrises, moonrises, and the rhythms of the land.

Gate opening at Sítio Sabiá

Rooted in Culture, Grown in Community

At Sitio Sabiá, 25 acres of organic farmland in Bahia, we cultivate more than food—we cultivate connection. Through art, movement, and intergenerational exchange, our land is a hub for culture, learning, and community. Every gathering strengthens Bahia’s traditions and fosters shared knowledge and resilience.

Our events are more than celebrations—they sustain Cultivando Sementes, our year-round program providing 26 Saturdays of arts, literacy, and wellness. Each drumbeat, mural, and shared meal fuels learning and connection across generations.

Your support keeps this work going—providing nourishment, arts education, and opportunity. View our fundraising efforts to learn more or make a donation to help our community thrive.
